Once the pressure of summer harvest is over and the drillingof the new crops is done, the pace on the farm becomes more relaxed. As autumnarrives, the woodland starts putting on one of its best shows of the year.
The greens give way to copper, gold and every shade inbetween. Leaves crunch underfoot as you wander the paths, and on a brightautumn day the low sunlight filtering through the trees make the whole placefeel completely different. We also have a variety of species of funghi that popup across the woodland floor during the wetter, autumnal months, giving thewoodland a definite mystical and fairytale feel.
There’s something particularly lovely about walking throughthe woodland when the air is crisp and the leaves are beginning to fall. Andbecause the woodland belongs to your accommodation, you don't have to get inthe car to experience it. You can just step outside and wander.
At Sycamore & Stars, you can make the most of thoselonger, darker evenings with a fire, a BBQ, something warming to drink and tojust enjoy being surrounded by the twinkling of fairy lights. It is genuinelydelightful to get into the steaming soaking tub whilst you are surrounded bytrees full of festoon lights whilst the air is chilly all around.
Late September and October are our favourite times of yearbecause the wildlife becomes more apparent. You can expect to see and hear theflocks of migrating geese flying overhead from miles away. And because thefields have just been sown, it is easier to spot the deer and muntjac that useour land as a thoroughfare to the bigger woodlands surrounding us. You may evenhear the calls of our resident barn owls or the buzzards which call our twowoodlands home.
If you've never tried glamping outside the summer months, this might be the year to give it a go. With fewer people travelling thanduring the summer holidays, it's a chance to have a few quieter days in theLincolnshire Wolds. So, if you've been thinking about trying Sycamore &Stars, take a look at our autumn dates and see if there's a little gap in thecalendar that could become yours.
